You put a nice spin on "Winters Bone". I agree with all you said, BUT... I just didn't like it so much.

Edit: Kind of reminds me of my inlaws in Wisconsin.

I'm going to watch "Toy Story 3" - I'm always late on these things.

Did you like J. Lawrence performance in WB?

Don't feel too late to the game, I haven't seen Toy Story 3 yet either.

Ya know, I lost my movie buddy this summer. Her family life requires more of her time. We would crow to each other about a few films each month, watch the others recs, and agree/disagree, ect.. Think about it if you reviewr other things then GD shows. :-)

I did like her performance. Everyone did a real good job. I think it was a well made movie, but I just didn't enjoy it much for some reason.

I saw a Frontline episode not long ago about meth usage in that part of the country (Missouri, Arkansas), and I'm familiar with rural life in Wisconsin. I think Winters Bone is very realistic and an interesting insight into the way many people live.

Have you seen the movie Bad Santa? I watched it a couple of weeks ago because my son said it was funny. I think it might be the worse movie ever made. I was actually angry at it for wasting my time.

No, on the Bad Santa. I can easily understand your pov on WB. I saw the same F/l on Meth. Bad Voodoo. Remember the part where the police execute a raid and (little) children are playing near the 'cooking'? For an American film in '10 WB was a really good film. When a director can develop character or plot line w/out a music video, but w/ silence and intelligence, 'tis a rare thing. You had to like the Big Man when he showed up for his 2'. The Bull! Maybe an 8 out of 10.
I just watched Queen to Play. Good flick, esp. if you like French and chess.
